The Wiki
Wiki Subdivisions
The wiki uses a number of means to divide itself into clear parts. The main divisions are made by the 'namespaces', these are words located in front of the page title, such as "Help:". The MAIN namespace has no word that marks it, hence, any page without a word such as "Help:", "User:", "Torpia_Wiki:" or other in front of it, is in the MAIN namespace. Please note that putting random words in the title does NOT make namespaces! F or more info: Link.
Categories & Language Links
- Categories should be located at the very bottom of the page, above the language links.
Pagetitles
- Multiple words are to be separated by a space, this will turn translate to an underscore.
- The first letter of any page is a capital letter, regardless whether you write it that way or not.
- Use in-game denotation for all buildings, units and items.
- Keep the title short and meaningful whenever possible.
- Refrain from using questions, you are stating facts, not answering something.
The Pages
- Pages are divided in paragraphs, sub-paragraphs etc...
- Lists are to be used sensibly.
- Tabels are to have calm, non-fluorescent colors and should be positioned so that they don't mess up the page.
- Try to put every page relevant categories, if none exist, see if there are enough pages to create one.
- Try to make interwiki links, this is done by adding "[[" in front of the word and "]]" after the word (e.g. [[Main Page]] becomes Main Page).
- When slang is often used to describe a building, it is meaningful to redirect that name to the real one.
- Exernal links are discouraged but when present, are to be placed above the category section.
The Paragraphs
- Place a space in front of and after the full title, e.g. "== The Attack ==
- Keep at least one line of whitespace between alinea's
- Keep the title short and meaningful.
- Refrain from using questions as a title, you are stating facts, not answering something.
Discussions
- Discussions are to be made only on the talk page, this is found at the upper menu, next to the "edit" button.
- Discussions are to be divided in paragraphs.
- Replies are to be made clear by adding a ':', a reply to a reply would have 2 '::', and one on that ':::' etc...
- Sign your reply with 4 tildes: ~, this adds your name and date of reply. E.g. ~~~~ becomes Mraedis 01:10, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
The Users
Hierarchy
- A bureaucrat is the top of the chain.
- A sysop is above normal users.
- All crewmembers have priority over players.
- 'Advanced users' do not have ANY extra rights.
- Unregistered users have no rights whatsoever.
- Asking to be made a bureaucrat or sysop repeatably can get you banned.
Names
- All names are to be following certain rules, such as:
- NO Crewnames
- No racist, discriminating or otherwise unwanted names.
- In the event of a name being reported as unwanted by several users, this name might be forcibly changed.
- Names such as "!!!!" or "!$%!$" are immediately removed.
- Please think when choosing a name, this will keep you out of trouble.
Signatures
- It is permitted for users to use a signature located under User:NAME/Signature, this can then be used by typing {{User:NAME/Signature}}
- The same rules as those of names apply.
Other
- The wiki team has the right to change these rules without prior consult or warning a all times. An announcement will be made on the main page in the event of a change.
- Rules can be debated on the Talk Page.
